Hervey Bay Hospital Patient Information

Our health centre in Urraween is open for regular and new patients.

But we encourage everyone (non-emergency cases) to always check this page to read important information before you visit our health facility.

Opening Hours

Monday – Wednesday: 8:00 am – 7:00 pm
Thursday – Friday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Saturday: 8:30 am – 2:30 pm
Sunday: Closed

Test Results

Test Results are available 2 to 3 days after the exam has been conducted. Some results may take a longer time and are available by follow up appointments.

We don’t give results over the phone for confidentiality reasons.

Waiting Times

We try to be comprehensive in providing medical care and each case may vary when it comes to waiting times.

Our receptionist will inform you of any wait times.

Updating Your Records

Please contact us when there are any changes to your home address, work address, mobile number, medicare number, concessions card such as Pension or Health Care Cards and next of kin.

It is important that we have your updated details in case of an emergency or to notify you of the availability of test results.

Privacy

A copy of our privacy policy can be viewed or downloaded here. A copy is also available in our reception area.

Fees

Primary Medical has moved to a ‘mixed billing practice’. We will continue to bulk bill everyone with concession cards , DVA card and children under the age of 16. Patients who do not fall in these categories may be billed privately.

Non-medical rebatable consults will be privately billed.

We accept payment by cash, EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard and Amex.

A standard consult is 10 minutes, please let the receptionist know if a longer appointment will be required.

Newborns without medicare cards are billed privately.

If you are unable to attend please ring at least two hours before your appointment time. No out of pocket cost for Care plans, Mental health care plans, Vaccines & Immunisations. All Childhood Vaccinations & Immunisations are free.

Home Visits

We offer home visits both within and out of normal operating hours if the patient is a regular patient of the practice and where it is reasonable to do so.

Please note that there may be out of pocket cost for Home Visits.

After Hours

We provide after-hour care.

Scripts & Referrals

It is a general policy of Primary Care Medical Clinic that all repeat prescriptions or specialist referrals require an appointment with your regular doctor.

Telephone & Electronic Communications

Our doctors can be contacted by phone during normal opening hours. If the doctor is busy, a message will be taken. In case of an emergency, the call will be put through to the doctor.

Communication via email is discouraged, as doctors might not check their email during work hours.

Reminders

We are using reminder systems to improve the quality of your health care.

We will send reminders by phone calls or letters. If you do not wish to be contacted, please let reception staff know.

Patient Feedback

We are always happy to get feedback from our patients. You may provide your comments through a suggestion box located in our reception area.

Onsite Pathology

We have a pathology provider onsite for your convenience open from
Monday to Friday: 8.30am – 12.30pm and 1.00pm – 3.30pm
