Dr Abdul is a Fijian who has lived and worked in Hervey Bay and Maryborough Hospitals for the last 2.5 years. He graduated from the University of Fiji in 2013 with his MBBS degree. Abdul pursued higher studies in the United Kingdom and holds a Masters of Family Medicine from the University of Edinburgh and a Masters of Diabetes from the University of Warwick. He also holds an Emergency Medicine Certificate form the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and a Graduate Diploma in Child Health from the Western Sydney University.
He has served as a Rural doctor, General Practitioner and later has worked extensively in the Emergency Departments both in the Fiji Islands and Australia.
Abdul has special interest in Paediatrics, Mental Health, Geriatrics and Palliative care medicine.
His approach to his patients is warm and collaborative-creating a safe, non-judgemental space where patients feel heard, informed, and empowered in their shared healthcare decisions.
Abdul is bilingual and has a very good command of English and Hindi.
Outside of work, Abdul loves travelling, reading-printed books, is a good cook and loves to try different cuisines. He also tries to go the gym regularly.
