Dr Kyaw Thiha Maung (John) obtained his medical degree from the University of Medicine 2, Myanmar, in 2015. He relocated to Australia in late 2022 and has since gained extensive clinical experience working across Queensland Health facilities, including Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, and Maryborough Hospitals.


Dr Maung has broad experience across multiple medical specialties, including internal medicine, emergency medicine, cardiology, oncology, surgery, orthopaedics, paediatrics, and mental health. This diverse background has equipped him with strong skills in managing acute presentations as well as complex and chronic medical conditions.


He has a clinical interest in chronic disease management, complex medical care, emergency medicine, child health, geriatric medicine, and mental health. Dr Maung is committed to providing safe, evidence-based, and patient-centred care, with an emphasis on respectful communication and continuity of care.


Dr Maung is fluent in English, Burmese, and Chinese, enabling effective communication with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.


Outside of clinical practice, Dr Maung maintains an active lifestyle and enjoys playing soccer, attending the gym, and travelling with family and friends.
